Supported Walls

A supported wall is one connected to other walls on two or more sides.

If your design has supported walls, please refer to the table below to identify minimum wall thickness requirement according to the materials and the area of the wall. (E.g., if you choose to print with Somos and the supported area is within 5mm*5mm, then the min thickness required of the wall is 0.6mm)

Unsupported Walls

An unsupported wall is one connected to other walls on less than two sides.

Min Escape Hole Requirement

Escape holes allow unbuilt material inside hollow products to be removed.

If your products contain cavities, please design escape holes at proper positions. A minimum diameter of 2mm is required. We recommend multiple escape holes to ensure the supporting material can be removed.

Min embossed detail

We recommend the height and the width of embossed details meet the minimum requirement in order for the printers to accurately replicate the details.
The table below shows the minimum requirement for various materials. If your product has details smaller than the minimum, try making them larger, removing them, or considering a material with finer detail.

Min engraved detail

Pointed parts Angle Requirement

A pointed design with thin walls may be damaged during the post-processing process. Thus, we recommend the inner angle to be more than 20 degrees.

If your clearance is smaller than the indicated minimum, try making the gap bigger, or consider fusing the parts or features if their independence is unnecessary.
